Oil!
Well, I had wanted to write a post about the way in which oil is inextricably linked to the livelihood of many of the villages we've been passing through and the interest with which people here are following the BP spill (and include a subtle, Upton Sinclair reference in the title), but it's late, I'm exhausted, and this post will have to wait for another time.

Can't wait for your next computer stop so you can post more photos. The images you describe sound breathtaking. But what is a fjord? I thought it meant the water but you guys seem to be using the word to mean mountain or hill. Much love - your (Ben's) mom
